Welcome (AAOMS)

Welcome Messages from the Asian Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons

Dear colleagues

As the executive director, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to organising committee members, specifically Dr Tian Ee Seah, Congress President of 14th ACOMS Singapore and Dr Raymond Wong, Organizing Chairperson of 14th ACOMS Singapore for your excellent organisation of this meeting.

I know it was a tough and painful decision that 14th ACOMS had to be postponed from 2020 to 2021, and to be held by full webinar. It has been approximately one year and a half past since COVID-19 was prevalent all over the world. During this period, we had tremendous hardships to prepare meetings, Congress, seminars owing to the COVID-19. However, we also learned that we could easily communicate with each other using web and/or other technologies. In September 2020, Asian AOMS held the 5th Trainee Conference by full webinar with the help of AOMSI. That was a great success and a paradigm shift of the conference. Trainees did not have to go to the conference venue across countries saving travel fee. So, this time, 14th ACOMS 2021, Singapore will be a benchmark of future conferences in the post-pandemic era. Asia is the growing centre of the world not only in the economics, and but also in the technology and medicine. Specifically Singapore is one of the centres in the world. Therefore, I think, in this ACOMS 2021, we will be the witness of the development and innovation of OMS. Finally, I thank you again for all the members of Singapore Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for the excellent preparation and organisation of this conference.

With best wishes,

Prof Tetsu Takahashi
